halloween safety tips

Halloween past

Situated about a mile from Stonehenge lays an ordinary house just like any other but once a year on a dark dark night that all changes when for an eerie night or two something else comes out to play.

let me introduce myself, I'm Neil and I share this unhealthy fascination for the undead with my partner Denise and my dad Dennis, my kids also have to take part, its compulsory.

My hobby started  a number of years ago when I started decorating for Christmas strongly encouraged by my parents it became a yearly thing. it was only the year before my son was born that I decided to have a go at Halloween and in 2000 I decorated my house quite basically with a few balls of neon wool making spiders webs across the garden and a few basic motors controlling some bats and spiders. We also had Sheila the witch (which I'm still using) and a few pitiful dummies, Its pretty much grown from there to the hydraulic props I'm attempting now, This is where it gets fun, the faces were not expecting the coffin to open last year and it really went down a treat, we had people come quite a distance to see. This year will be better again and ill post as soon as its happened don't want to give anything away.

I hope you enjoy looking at my site and it inspires you to make an effort too.

Here is a selection of pictures from 2005,

It was the best yet. The gravestones are polystyrene and the black backdrop is made by using weed control fabric. I purchased red velvet curtains and scene setters wall paper to finish the funeral scene.

The coffin was made up of various props including a screaming head, a bloody hand and was made from hardboard and dado rails, then painted a boring grey colour so it could still be seen. It was working on a timer to open via a hydraulic ram which then released making it shut with a bang from the weight, it went down so well and made the cost and time all worth while.

2006 proves to be the best year yet
